2023 Australia Day Award Recipients

Today we celebrated the 2023 Australia Day award recipients at a ceremony in Atherton.

‘It was a great day to recognise these amazing people and organisations in our community, and remind ourselves why the Tablelands Region is such a great place to live, work and play,” said Mayor Rod Marti.

‘Arts, sports, recreation, community services and events in our region would be nothing without your support and contribution.

‘Congratulations to all the nominees and award recipients.

‘It was also a great honour to welcome four new Australian citizens into our community,’ said Mayor Marti.

From 35 nominations across the region, the 2023 TRC Australia Day Award recipients are:

  • Citizen of the Year — Gail Barton
  • Young Citizen of the Year — Marni Dennis
  • Community Event of the Year — Malanda Christmas Street Festival
