Yungaburra Triathlon Returns
After last year’s cancellation, excitement is growing for this year’s Totally Workwear Yungaburra Triathlon to be held on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 April. ‘Everyone is looking forward to the event after missing out last year because of Covid-19, and registrations are filling fast,’ said Councillor David Clifton. ‘On Saturday we’ll have the Junior Tri and Enticer events, followed by the Sprint and Standard events on Sunday. ‘There are a variety of distances and divisions so everyone from connoisseurs to novices are welcome. ‘Join a team if you’re unsure or have never competed in a triathlon before. ‘If you’re not keen on running, swimming or cycling, make sure you head to the Tinaburra Foreshore to cheer on the competitors, or put your hand up to help at the event. ‘We’re always looking for helpers with registration, marshalling, hydration and other tasks. ‘We’re also keen to hear from food and beverage vendors who would like to join our event. ‘As with past years there will be temporary road and boat ramp closures across the weekend. ‘Impacted households will receive road closure information in the mail and details will be available on the Yungaburra Triathlon website. ‘You can also register to receive text messages for the road closures and openings across the weekend. ‘The town centre of Yungaburra will be accessible for the entire weekend. ‘Everything you need to know can be found at Yungaburra Triathlon website — register for the event (by 9 April), see course details and maps, fill out a food and drink vendor expression of interest (by 26 March), and volunteer to help,’ said Councillor Clifton.
