Funding To Support Businesses

Tablelands Regional Council’s Economic Development Fund is open and accepting applications.

‘This important funding program supports initiatives that help grow the economy to support businesses and create more jobs and economic opportunities,’ said Mayor Rod Marti.

‘It’s a great opportunity for not-for-profit groups, such as chambers of commerce and industry groups; and businesses looking to fund a cost-neutral community project.

‘If you have an idea that could help businesses grow, develop new skills, capture more visitor spending, plan for critical infrastructure, or attract investment to the region, make sure you apply.

‘One of our success stories from last year was Malanda Chamber of Commerce’s Christmas campaign.

‘The chamber used their $5000 to purchase equipment for a street shopping night and shop local campaign.

‘The event was a great success with 1200 people enjoying the night of shopping, entertainment and launching of the shop local initiative,’ said Mayor Marti.

Gail Barton from the Malanda Chamber of Commerce appreciated the support the fund provided.

‘The Economic Development Fund greatly assisted the Malanda Chamber of Commerce in funding the resources needed so that this can become an annual event.

‘The event promotes the ‘shop local think local’ campaign and encourages people to support their local retailers.

‘The marketing paraphernalia we purchased with the funds will be used for future events, which is very beneficial to us, especially as we are a not-for-profit organisation without funds for advertising,’ Ms Barton said.

Economic Development Fund applications are open until Friday 27 November.
