The ambience of Munro Martin Parklands (MMP) will set the scene for two open air film nights next week.
Enjoy watching films under the stars when Council hosts a Free Movie Night on Friday 6 November, followed by the annual Understory Film Festival screening on Saturday 7 November.
Free tickets are now available for the screening of the Australian modern romantic Top End Wedding (rated M) on 6 November. Bookings are essential.
Directed by Wayne Blair (The Sapphires) and released in 2019, Top End Wedding follows the hilarious tribulations of successful lawyer Lauren and her fiancé Ned as they prepare for their wedding.
Just 10 days out from tying the knot, the couple has to find Lauren’s mother who has gone AWOL somewhere in the Northern Territory, reunite her parents and still pull off their dream wedding.
The film stars Miranda Tapsell (Love Child and Redfern Now), Gwilym Lee (Bohemian Rhapsody) and Kerry Fox (The Dressmaker).
Due to COVID restrictions, capacity has been reduced to ensure there is plenty of space for attendees to socially distance from other groups. There is also a restriction of six tickets per transition.
Tickets are also available the Understory Film Festival for the one low price of $15.75 – an evening dedicated to recognising the expertise, energy and commitment of student, emerging and professional filmmakers living in the Far North.
Enjoy short films of 8 minutes or less across a selection of genres including comedies, documentaries, music videos, animations, experimental and more.
Understory Film Festival screening starts at 7pm, with gates open from 5pm.
Tickets to the Understory Film Festival are $15.75 each and are limited to comply with COVID restrictions.
People attending either of these events are welcome to bring a picnic, a low set chair or rug and take advantage of the onsite food vendors and licensed bar.
