Training For Mental Health First Aid

Tablelands Regional Council (TRC) is joining with Queensland Health (QH) to host Mental Health First Aid training.

Councillor Bernie Wilce believes mental health first aid is an important skill for our community.

‘Mental health first aid teaches people to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or is in mental health crisis.

‘First aid is given until professional treatment is received or until the crisis resolves.

‘The course will be facilitated by Sue Phillips — QH Regional Adversity Clinician and Mereki Wirth — TRC Community Health and Wellbeing Officer

‘We’re offering this training over two half days and one full day:

  • 30am–12.30pm on Tuesday 13 and Thursday 15 September
  • 30am–5.00pm on Wednesday 21 September.

‘The training will be in Atherton and the subsidised cost is only $22.

‘Places are limited so book (tablelandsregionalcouncil.eventbrite.com) before 5pm Friday 9 September to secure you place.

‘This is a great lead up opportunity to Queensland Mental Health Week (Saturday 8 – Sunday 16 October),’ said Councillor Wilce.
